Default Lemans 2012

Today i am watching some of the Lemans race that started this morning. Some interesting prototypes -- and the usual suspects. The Toyota vs. Audi hybrids competition is getting the most attention from the race coverage, but it will be interesting to see how the light weight, low powered Nissan Delta Wing does in the end.

of course we had to take a break for nascar
and it's not even for a fricking race for crying out loud.

of course toyota's "road to lemans" infomercial they ran a couple of time couldn't resist bending the truth by claiming the first hybrid at Le Mans.
that honor would have to go to audi snce they've been campaigning theirs for a while now.

Perhaps Toyota should put more work into their drivers, now that they have cool tech.

I'm looking forward to seeing Toyota's marketing spin on "we got our ass kicked by Audi because we crapped out early"

Honda did pretty well coming in first in LMP2 and finishing 6th in LMP1.

I taped almost the entire 24 hours and watched a huge amount of it, as LeMans is dear to me. . . . first sports car race I ever attended. I thought the commentary this year was better than ever. That Ant wasn't injured worse is pretty amazing. Of course I was rooting for Audi.

Too bad about the Delta Wing. I was rooting for it. Heroic effort by Motoyama to repair the car and take it back to pit lane. Too bad it was done.

They say Anthony Davidson should be back to normal in about 3 months.

Yes, it will be interesting to see what comes of the Delta Wing. They had a very long interview with Dan Gurney about the Wing during the night.... don't know if you caught that or not. It's probably somewhere on the Net. That was great effort with Motoyama following instructions on how to get it going again, only to have if fail. They said the fans watching through the fence all gave him a big applause for the effort.

I thought it was interesting to observe the instability under braking and going into corners. It was just waaay to twitchy.
