You know, I never thought of that. If I use the CD of last year's tax progams the birds'll have to leave. They won't be able to afford to stay. ANd you're right, they'll die of boredom.

Now that I think about it, if they don't leave can I claim them as dependents?

 

I thought about the vaseline. I wasn't sure if it would work. I am going to try it.

As far as the cat goes, I'd probably create a bigger problem than I solve. We have some stray cats around here and they leave their own mess on the lawns.

 

We do also. I haven't looked in yet since it takes three weeks as I recall.

Rob, robins are so tame I find it almost impossible to believe that a fake owl will be effective; but if it is, let us know. Best solution is a nice big pole barn for all those Honda's.

 

I had a similar problem with cardinals. I put large socks over the mirrors, and they eventually the left it alone.

 

Interesting. Never heard of such a thing. One year though, we had a bird that flew into our bay window early every morning for a couple of weeks. I guess he was seeing his reflection and thinking it was another bird?

We'd wake up to the "thud" as it hit the window over and over. The window was a mess too. I read that putting a picture of a black bird in the window would help. I tried, it didn't work.

Robins incubate 12-14 days and the young are gone in 14-16 days. You're probably half way through the process. Get active in the general araa as much as possible once the current problem slows down. We postponed siding the house due to a robin's nesting in a small blue spruce several years ago. Killing robins is prohibitted by international migratory bird treaties.

 

If I'm understanding you correctly, the problem should solve itself in the next week, is that correct?

I don't want to kill them. As a matter of fact I'd be perfectly happy for them to stay on my property if they'd perch and poop someplace other than my cars. We have hundreds of trees, they can nest in anyone they like.
