Thumbs up "Living the Dream...."

I posted this thread on the DelVal forum, but thought that it might sponsor some reflections here as well

Besides fltsfshr, is anyone else here 'living the dream'

Some of you may remember Dana and Janice from Blandon PA....near Reading, PA screen name= dchs2kpa

Dana was an early member here at DelVal and was a group leader at a several Fall Colors tours....ending with FC 04. He had a NFR AP1 and then surprised everyone with a Rio Pearl AP2. Although fairly young, they decided to 'live the dream' ~2 years ago: quit their jobs in the business world; spend the winter as ski bums in UT, VT, etc; spend the warm months working hard with a food concession 'truck' on the county fair/ special event circuit In any event, here's their email message:

Hi Jerry:
We just got back from spending the winter in Vermont and are gearing up for our second year in food concession business.

I'm pretty darn close, I don't think anybody's life is perfect but with effort and also good fortune I ended up were I wanted to be. When I was a young child my Dad had to come up here to Vt periodically to do maintenance on a house owned by the family he caretakes for and he would take the family and we would work part of the time and find fun stuff to do the rest of the time. I told my parents that I wanted to move up here to Vt when I grew up and while it took me a while I made the move 10 years ago and don't regret it at all. I'm living right were I have always wanted, I'm making a somewhat decent living and have a lot of good friends and a close and healthy family.

Robb, you can't ask for much more than that

We certainly enjoyed seeing your little 'dream spot' after the LG outling last October......now about the flooded out roads further to the east....

I think my dream life would not include having to go to work each day, I think for us, there would be better ways to spend our time.

I think a dream life may have a few less worries around the finances needed for retirement and health care and less worries about life in general.

That said, I have nothing to complain about. Rick and I have each other, a nice little home, a good family, and our health. Oh, and we have this little convertible that came with the option of more friends and good times.

Life is good!

In some ways I am 'living the dream'...I have my S, my health, a vacation home that I make more of an effort to get to than I have in the past...both my kids will be in college this fall...

There are definitely things that could be better in my personal life, but a couple of them won't be changing for a fairly long time. It's not that the changes are difficult---it's that they are beyond my control.

I'm trying hard to be happy despite the things that are difficult in my life.

I have come through a very difficult period in my life, still have a couple of diffiult areas in my live, but believe it will get better; in some ways it already has.

There are areas in my life where I am having a tough time, and I do get hopeless occasionally.

I am in counseling.

Guess I needed an "all of the above" choice! LOLOLOL

Hey Plank. Hang in there girlfriend, I've found that what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. We're going to be some pretty "tuff" sistas before it's all over and will be counted among some of the stongest women in the world after all this stuff, just you wait and see.

And don't forget, you're a member of the BBSSS team! When the blues get us down, we just hop in the blues and take off, right my stealthy Blues brothas and sistas?

As for the topic and poll at hand, just the fact that I'm still living period is a dream (come true).

I couldn't pick anything on the list. If I had to define it, I'd say "Doing well, great spouse, great daughter, happy with life in general, but have so much more to achieve".

I guess I hang around too many millionaires to be happy with where I am financially
