Recently read a Scottish popular phrase: There is no bad weather, just people inappropriately dressed.

So be sure to wear your 'wraps' and carry a 'bumpershoot'. (coat and umbrella)

Although this is more like contemporary linguistics, a trucker where I once worked used to talk about hauling 'sailboat fuel'- on the return trip. (air)

Hope this isn't out of place, but do any of you folks remember musterole? It was some kind of salve that smelled horrible that my mother used to put on my chest (which she would then cover with cloths) and send me to bed if she thought I had any sign of a cold. I vaguely remember this from wayyyy back when I was pre-school age. Any of you remember that kind of thing?
