Default Marijuana and driving

What is the state of the evidence that marijuana impairs a driver to the point that he or she is at a greater risk of causing an accident? I looked on line and found conflicting studies.

Here is what NORML says (No surprise here, right?):

http://norml.org/library/item/mariju...tific-evidence

Here is what the National Institute on Drug Abuse says (we're all gonna die!!!):

http://www.drugabuse.gov/publication...affect-driving

And here is a story from the Washington Post that says the government has reported pot has almost no effect on driving:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...ral-data-show/

Yet here is a report from NHTSA that came out the same time as the Washington Post article that says it does have an impact:

http://www.nhtsa.gov/About+NHTSA/Pre...tudies-02-2015

Do any of you work in a field that studies this issue? What do you know? I think some of you get high or know someone who does, so what has your experience been with pot and driving?

I think it should be treated the same as alcohol as far as driving is concerned however I don't know how the police would go about determining how far under the influence a driver is.

What do you think made McDonalds popular?

"Farout! Gimme 6 double cheeseburgers, a large fry and a giant chocolate shake! Hey can I have one of those apple things too? Got any cookies?"

And you could eat them all while driving!

Now all I have to do is put on XM's Grateful Dead Channel. Is that a dietary flashback? I forgot.

There have been many tests in Colorado where it has been established that alcohol increases accident risks. Evidence of marijuana’s on-road driving accidents is somewhat less convincing.

Cannabis usage has been shown to mildly impair psychomotor skills. Cannibis' impairment does not appear to be severe or long lasting as that of alcohol.

I wouldn’t drive under either condition.

I think reflexes are impacted. If I threw something at the hi kid across the room he would usually just sit there and the thing would bounce off his head. That was some funny stuff.

I didn't say the reflexes remained sharp in either case. Try the same with a alcohol induced drunk - the results may be worse.
