Default A Marketing Idea

I think Sony, Phillips and all the other TV manufacturers should start marketing certain HDTVs for sale in May for $1200, out the door. They could call it Stimulus TVs. Just trade in your Stimulus check for a brand new HDTV.
This could apply to a lot of other stuff, but since I keep putting off buying HD, that first came to mind. Anybody work for an ad agency? Get crackin.

...and, naturally, it would be an entry-level model, so the sales people could talk you into springing for "just a little" more to get a better model and then using one of those silly "no-interest" financing schemes.

Sounds as American as apple pie to me. HPH

Shows how silly the stimulus thing is. Yeah, that's just what we need to improve the American economy -- spend government money buying big screen TVs from Japan so our couch potatos can sink even further into the recliners while munching down Big Macs and Dominos Pizza.

Jeez Mike, now I feel guilty for wanting one.
At least Big Macs are American! But I can't eat 1200 dollars worth.

(I think the Stimulus thing is nuts too, but I'm not giving my 1200 back!)

Just another feeble effort by Bush to stimulate a failing economy he is responsible for creating. Not to mention adding to the huge defecit he already created. I'm surprised he didnt recommend sending the stimulus to another foreign country along with the billions he has already sent.

Sounds like a good plan to me. US store, US delivery, US recliner (Lazy Boy), US Big Mac, US pizza, and getting to watch US sports. Not buying one is not going to change where the TVs are made.

Unless MacDonalds has changed, I think they still buy a percentage of their meat from Australia and New Zealand. Another icon shot to hell!

That fast food meat just as likely comes from Argentina or New Zealand. Somebody else said "if you want to make sure you stimulate the American economy you need to stick to domestic beer and local prostitutes." Pretty sad that it's hard to find things you want and need that are Made in America. I plan to spend mine on a trailer hitch and a timing belt. Actually, I should save it and put it toward next year's taxes. What a waste of the citizrn's money.

S2KRAY, Bush didn't "create" the deficit, but he has added to it. Don't give him too much credit...
But let's not get too political or this will be moved.
My plan is to give the check back to the Treasury as part of my June 15th tax estimate. Someday I will get an HDTV, but in my current house I have built in cabinets that won't take the size of TV I want. Will have to either redo the cabinets $$$ or wait till I move.
