Thanks Glenn. I guess he doesn't include premiums or deductibles as "out of pocket"?
Thankfully as I understand it you can change coverage every year in case you f**k up the first time.
I'm starting to think I should read up on this stuff and start a consulting business. Or shoot somebody.

His premium is $129/month and he doesn't pay any deductables.
If you don't know that's cool. No need to grill your neighbor.
FWIW, my co-worker bought a supplement through the Teamster's union. I think he is paying around $150.00/month and toss on another $40.00 (I think) for drugs. Very little out of pocket as far as deductibles. So between his Medicare premium, supplement and prescription coverage he's around $300.00/month.
AARP has some supplements I believe. Not sure if they are any good. Some are written by United Health care, my least favorite of any of the companies I've been insured by.

My late wife had Medicare while I had private insurance. My insurance covered her even though she had the Medicare. That was until the private insurance realized that the company I worked for had less than 100 employees. That meant that Medicare had to cover her and my insurance covered nothing for her yet every provider wanted to bill my insurance. It was a nightmare!! Provides were paid late if at all and I was sent to collection many many times.
If one good thing came out of Diane's death it was not having to deal with Medicare for a few years.
