Default Men who cook...

OK, y'all...I was inspired to start this thread by a guy who is cooking me dinner this Thurs. He is making an artichoke and sundried tomato quiche. So...which of you men cooks? And if you do, what is your specialty?

Anything on the grille. Olive oil/salt/pepper/garlic rubbed steaks is the #1 request from the wife.

#2 is a Clam Spaghetti ( *not* cooked on the grille ) that I got from a local food writer - it's incredible.

The only problem is that she doesn't want to go out for pasta anymore - when she gets the craving - I go grocery shopping!

John Hinterberger's Clam Spaghetti

6 servings

Ummmm... me

I really don't have a speciality, I love most foods and ethnicities so I'll cook/eat nearly anything. I do have a hard time preparing Asian meals though, mostly due to a lack of proper equipment and technique; most home cooktops cannot generate the heat necessary for wokking.

I spend a lot of time lurking on Cooks Talk , there are some great people there and I've collected a lot of good recipes.

(edited because this kitty cannot spell on a computer to save his life, and apparently cannot read what he types also...)

My husband is a meat man, and his specialty is Tri Tip steaks on the BBQ. I don't like meat but everyone else loves his cooking. Lately though it's been BBQ buffalo burgers since they are low fat and work in well with our weight loss program. There is a buffalo ranch within 20 miles of Acton.

Now that's funny

I cook a lot. Not so much because I love it. I don't mind it, but I hate the cleaning up. More because it saves money, allows my wife a few minutes to relax when we first get home, and I always feel like I've accomplished something after I'm done making a meal.

I don't have a specialty, per se. I love to BBQ (what man doesn't) and can make some pretty good breakfast as well as dinner meals. My wife's favorite is probably the ribs and corn that I bbq. We have a great meat market in my area that gets awesome chicken, beef, fish and pork and if you've got good stuff to work with, it's hard to screw it up too badly.

I cook...just not well, except for bbq. But since my wife is a vegetarian, perhaps my grilling drove her to that????

I do the majority of the cooking in our home. Love to cook on the smoker or the grill. Favorites on the grill are:

Tuna (red, yellow, or blue fin)
Sword fish
Salmon steaks

All roasts and steaks on the grill. Beef / pork / chicken

Veggies on the grill

Brisket in the oven (have a great never fail recipe) or on the smoker
Pork Butt (actually the shoulder cut) on the smoker

On the smoker or grill will use a number of different types of woods. Favorites are:

Cherry
Plum
Pecan
Apple
Mesquite

Love the marinades / dips / salsa from Fischer & Wieser (www.jelly.com)
