Thanks for this post, Jerry! I don't have any relatives with MS, but I have friends and acquaintances who do. For many years I did the annual MS 150 ride from Houston to Austin raising donations for MS research. They have made some tremendous strides in coping with the disease. Wishing your son all the best -- and you!

I am glad that your son is coming back home, and like many others here we have had friends with MS and the strides that have been made in controlling the disease are significant. Stay positive.

Oh Wow...Thank you all so much for your kind words of support and encouragement! You're such an amazing group of people!

I know they're making great strides in the treatment of MS, and I'm sure Brent will be able to live a happy, productive life from here on out. Yes, Bill, sometimes it's tough to be a dad...especially of a soldier. I've been so proud of Brent serving in the Military over the past eleven years, but I've also been scared to death during his three deployments to the "Valley of Death" in Afghanistan. He's on the plane now on his way to the Military Medical Center in San Antonio, TX, and then on home to his family in Colorado in a couple more days (sigh of relief!).

A very heartfelt "THANK YOU" to each one of you for taking the time to share your thoughts and prayers. It is truly a blessing to have you as friends, and that my son is returning home with his crazy personality in tact (good point, Patty)...and with all his body parts still attached.

God bless you all!

A very grateful dad, and another one of the Vintage Jerry's.

Jerry, I am so glad your son is coming home. As a vet please tell him our country is proud of his service and my thoughts and prayers are with you both. I will be participating in my 14th MS bicycle ride this September and I plan to dedicate my ride to Brent. His name will be displayed on my cycling jersey. Could you give me your last name. Our group has been a top fund raiser for many years and the goal for this year is to raise over 1 million dollars. This money goes directly to MS to help in the research for a cure to this disease. God Bless your son.

Thank you so much, Ray! What a thoughtful thing for you to do regarding my son, and the countless others who are coping with MS.

I have also ridden the MS-150 several times myself, but with a certain detachment...mainly just for the ride. However, things are different now. It's close to home, and I see the face of my son when I get on the bike. When he was young, we rode many miles together around Cherry Creek Reservoir near our home in Aurora, CO. Now, he cannot balance well enough to ride, so I will be riding for us both. Maybe someday we can ride together on a tandem!

I deeply appreciate your thoughtful gesture, Ray. Here's Brent's info:

It is an honor to do this. I am recovering from my injuries as a result of a recent cycling accident but this pales in comparison to those who suffer from this disease. I will try to get a photo of my jersey to you after I complete the ride.
