Jerry...The subject of your thread was not Spring Fling Trivia. It was the names of the people coming. If you want a thread devoted to Spring Fling Trivia, then start one.

.....then why were you joining into the Trivia Spurt on this valid Name List thread? Why did you not follow the usual mod SOP and admonish people that "things are going off topic here" ?

In the words of the immortal Saint Bill (as posted on another thread):
"Free The Spring Flame Thread Now!!! Imperialist over-mods have silenced the fun filled Spring Flame thread. This will not stand! People of Vintage, join with me and together we will continue light hearted, fun filled flaming. "

Fine...I'll unlock it. Flame away...But keep it fun and lighthearted, please. Sometimes it's not so obvious that's what it is.

I was ONLY playing. I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I certainly did not mean to.

I thought everyone was just playing.

Now that we've gotten that foolishness out of our systems, here's wishing everyone a blessed and safe Easter. Hope to see everyone on Monday. Granny's out.

One problem I see is that the written word can be difficult to interpret as to meaning, especially when sarcastic or light-hearted banter is intended. The use of emoticons, or a verbal expression that what was said is tongue-in-cheek can go a long way to relieving the impression that a post is meant in seriousness and not in comic relief.

When communicated verbally and in person, the same words are accompanied by tonal inflections, facial impressions and body language, all of which convey the actual intent of the person. Mere words cannot do the same thing without some form of visual "body language".

I stay away from flames, I don't like getting burned...
