The morning commute.
My morning commute is 11 miles and 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours long. I usually leave my house between 7:00 and 7:30 A.M.. If I leave later I run into even heavier traffic.
In any event, during that time, I see some of the craziest behavior. Eating, drinking, talking on cellphones even reading the paper while driving. I see a lot of weaving in and out of lanes too. Its hard to believe that drivers can be aggressive at 2 miles per hour, but they are. Especially some of the people in the big SUVs.

Everything you mentioned above except on Canada's busiest highway - the 401.
My morning commute is about 45 km to 60 km depending on the location I am going to. It takes me about an hour in the morning and about an hour and a half in the evenings.
Somedays all I say is thank god for VPN....

48 miles to work, but takes 45-50 minutes on good roads. 35 of the miles are on Interstate so get to see lots of trucks, but as you can tell by how longs it takes me to get to work that traffic isn't that bad. The first 10 miles are for dodging deer & other animals. Usually leave home at 6:15 am & get back around 5:45 pm.
I'm pretty lucky....mine is also about 11 miles but only 30 minutes...usually along the West River Drive into Philly. I'm looking for a legal view of Boat House Row that I see looking across the Schuylkill River....after dark:
My commute is easy. 11 mi at 3:45 in the AM. Takes only 10-15 min. The only traffic are freight haulers and an occasional police car (popo, Val's word). I did have to venture recently to a vendor in Columbus, and on the way on I-71 in the middle of a construction zone, I was passed by a gentleman who was reading from a legal pad, while dictating into a hand held recording device. On this same trip, I also observed a young woman eating a bowl of cereal while driving with her knees. Amazing all the time saving chores that can be accomplished during your morning commute!
I see all kinds of people (and behavior) on the subway! Always an interesting trip. I leave my place at 7 am, walk about four blocks to the Metro station in Rosslyn, take the Blue or Orange line, and head for Union Station stop via Metro Center where I transfer to the Red Line. If there are no problems with the system (and there were some this week with icing and a cracked rail this morning), I walk into my office at 7:30. A very easy commute for me.
I'm lucky; my commute is about 10 miles, from a country setting to downtown. My route is along the Genesee River, eventually winding through a beautiful golf course, then through the U of R and eventually ends in downtown. The drive takes me 15 to 20 minutes, with very little traffic and no speeds higher than about 45mph.
Hmmm, what do I see? Well at 7:00AM is see a few other cars, some cows, some horses, a beautiful river, golfers catching an early T time, the U of R rowing team, squirrels, deer, and eventually my parking ramp garage.
All in all, it is a very relaxing drive, and best done in the S with the top down...

My morning commute is pretty uneventful. I walk about 20 feet down the hallway to my living room and I'm at work. If I'm not careful I might step on one of my dogs tennis balls - but other than that I'm lucky I don't have to deal with the morons on the highway.
Been there - done that - and reading this thread brought back unpleasant memories. As long as business is good I think I'll choose to say at home in my sweatpants
