In case you missed it, it sounds like one of our Vintage members, Tadashi (Ellen), has had to sell her S. The thread is here.

Damn. I never met her and can only imagine what that's going to be like.

This really is sad news. I know Ellen a long time, even before she had an S.

I'm sorry that she had to sell, but I hope she continues to post here.

I posted in her thread sending my regards. I can understand her comments about not being around much. When I decided to stop road racing motorcycles and sell my race bike, I knew that if I did not sell my custom made leathers I would not be able to walk away. I did sell them. And sure enough, I had several offers to join a few endurance racing teams. In retrospect, I was right. If I had not sold my leathers and not returned to Summit Point for many years to see a motorcycle race I would not have been able to quit.

A few years ago, I was drafted to instruct at Beaver Run and at Summit Point. I bought a new helmet, and boom mic / ear piece for my intercom for the students helmet (I could not expect them to stick something in their ears after others), when Summit Point made the decision in 2009 to no longer accept the stock S2000 roll hoops and A pillar as a roll bar I had a choice to make. I knew myself well enough to know that if I made the decision to cut up the car to install a roll bar that would have started me on the slippery slope of mods once the car was no longer stock. Coil overs, R compound, pads, exhaust, cold air intakes, etc.

I understand that sometimes one just has to walk away (at least for a while). Here is hoping that Ellen will be back at some point.

cars come and go... it's NOT the end of the world

maybe some of you vintage folks can help me understand all the compassion

i sold my S when i purchased my home as it made financial sense for me - and i could have kept it BUT i like to eat and spend money on things that do not deprecate down to zero as all cars do ..

i think Ellen finally made a good decision when it came to getting rid the car. we've all read of her financial issues and the expenses she has

sure she is a big enthusiast as are most here BUT for gosh sakes life has priorities and an s2000 should be at the bottom of the list..

as we're all adults here i am surprised none of you ever mentioned that before - rather than oh great you got another one even though you struggled with the last one - oh great you paid your tax bill with a credit card check or oh great another $500.00 s2k weekend, oh great the 7 year car payment is a great idea.. not one person said - keep the prelude, get things in order and someday get an S when you can afford it..

again it's a car.. food / roof / paying your bills should ALL take precedents over a toy..

Our compassion is for a friend that is hurting. Not for the fact that she had to get rid of the car, it's for the fact that she is in pain (physical and emotional).

i understand the the physical pain and that's a valid point BUT emotional pain - really?? part of being an ADULT is that we all MUST face the consequences of our actions - good or bad..
