As I have done in the past, starting a thread for our current trip for commentary and pics. Landed at Providence RI airport early. Lovely Renaissance hotel right across the street from the State House. Here tonight, then head to the ship at Fall River, MA tomorrow after a tour of Providence. First time on American Cruise Lines. Small ship - only 100 passengers. My kind of cruising. Here is a pic of the State House.
Some haze today from Canadian fires but not bad. Expect that to clear once we are on the water. Vito is off for a run around Brown Univ.
Nice! My old stomping grounds. Not that it matters but the airport is in Warwick which is 2 cities away from Providence but for some reason they say it is in Providence.
Have fun!
Walked to the State House and went in to look around. Then walked up to Brown Univ. And I mean up! Pretty much a couple of miles uphill. Yikes. Anyone attending there does not need any other fitness program!
Off to the tour of Providence soon then board the ship. Set sail at 2 for New Bedford. I thought Vito would be the youngest passenger but there might be a couple more his age. Met some people at breakfast. So far from TX, SC and MD.
Out at sea right now. There is wi-fi for the moment. Had a nice lecture on the history of the area, fishing/whaling industry. Dock at New Bedford 7ish.
Headed out for our tour of the fishing docks in awhile. Lots of fishing boats here! Then after lunch is a shuttle bus that stops at different spots around town to get off and explore. The Whaling Museum is right across the street from our ship, so can walk there. More pics to follow.
