Got the first one today and the Pharmacist suggested I plan on the next in Two months as the supply has been intermittent and that will give me the extra Four months if necessary.

I have read that if you contact a pharmacy well away from the big cities, they may have doses unused. If any of your residences fit that description, can you confirm?

I do know some folks are scrambling to get the second dose. Hopefully, the supply is up a bit now. I've got six months until I need that second one....

Here is what is says on the CDC website about getting the 2nd dose within 6 months:

You should make every effort to get the second dose of Shingrix between 2 and 6 months after you got the first dose. If your doctor or pharmacist is out of Shingrix, you can use the Vaccine FinderExternal to help find other providers who have Shingrix. You can also contact pharmacies in your area and request to be put on a waiting list for Shingrix if they do not have the vaccine in stock. If it’s been more than 6 months since you got the first dose, you should get the second dose as soon as possible; you don’t need to restart the vaccine series.
I don't think the Vaccine Finder is accurate, though. And, some of you are finding that it doesn't do much good to be on a waiting list either.

I read on another site that someone said that the guidelines have been changed and that it doesn't have to be within 6 months anymore. However, I have not found that on the CDC website. I would do my best to get the 2nd shot within 6 months.

(goblue and I were lucky. We both got our 1st Shingrix shot last summer and were able to get the 2nd shot within 2 or 3 months.)

My arm feels better today. It was sore and swollen and almost had a bull's eye look to the redness. My brother in law got his shot yesterday. He was a bit feverish today. Also not unusual

Got mine yesterday, ouch today. I was pulled from a list, and I was on it about 2 months. Maybe things are getting better, as I do live within 10 miles of a pretty big city.

I'm waiting to see if any of you get the shingles.

Why?

Do you think that people will get shingles from the shingles vaccine?
