I turned 114K on my 2003 today after doing the "touring memorial laps" at Summit Point for Cale Kastanek # 57.

In all of those miles I have done nothing but change the fluids, and at 99K had BillMan250 (the NY Metro mechanic) do a valve adjustment and plug change. Past that, I had to replace the rear license plate bulb.

It looks like they are following the Miata formula. Basically, trying to furnish a balanced decent low-buck platform from which owners can build. I think I just read Miata sales topped 900,000. Not bad, especially considering when it came out the general mood of the automobile world was sports cars and rag tops were dead! Thankfully, fun cars do not need 600 hp or anything close to it.

 

Yeah, it still runs well. The top is showing age though and that's $1,550 here to replace. I can't see putting that into it.

 

I think this car will be more like a slightly slower s2k coupe.. Exactly what I am looking for. The folding back seats... Even better..

 

Jaguar F-Type Roadster. Hmmm...not as "pure" as the S2000, but it looks like fun! However, I'd have to go back to work in order to afford one at 2x or 3x the price of an S. The supercharged V8 would be a kick!
