Well this is turning into a ____ . Paid for the map update and when trying to download it I'm getting a message the unit is registered to someone else. I've had the unit since it was new.

On hold for 18 minutes now.

Wonder if I've registered the unit in the past......
That's what it appears I've done...and I don't know how to get the maps from user 2 back to original account.

Still holding.....

After 30 minutes wait time (just as advised when I heard the recording) someone came on the line. Very nice person, spoke English and she deleted the first account so the unit could be registered to the account I created today, and the maps installed

It's downloading now. Things were moving along a bit slowly so rather than keep her on the line I let her go and asked if she possibly could check back with me in 30 minutes or so to see if all was well.

It appears to be........let's see if she calls back.

PS Made note of my user name in two places.

these things will go the way of the buggy whip and 8 track tapes soon

with the iphone and driod and the free GPS apps such as Bing (awesome turn bu turn) and google maps - most will not need another stand alone unit that charges for maps

i bought a new tomtom about two months ago and haven't touched it since i bought my buddy's old iphone with navigon

also you do not need cell service for these to work - they work just like a stand alone gps

I still have my eight track.

Right now for $89.00, this is the cheapest way for me to get place to place. My cell phone is a phone only. My next phone is the Jitterbug, and I don't think that one has navigation options.

Have the Garmin (both for GPS car and GPS for golf). Both work great. Went with the $85 for life update. They normally update 4 times a year. It is a bargin.

My friend owns a BMW and they want $275 for an update.
