This is the second S I've had it on and I am happy as a clam! Plus I know how 3M tests it and I know it will work as advertised.

Never leave home without your clear bra!

I have owned 2 berlina black S2000s, an '04 which I drove daily for 11 months before flipping it, and my '05 which is my current DD. When I got my '04 I did not get clear bra and by the time I flipped it, the front end was indistinguishable from the night sky. In fact many of my fellow S2KAtlanta club members joked that paying the insurance deductible was cheaper that getting the car repainted and accused me of flipping it intentionally. As if! I'm not that cheap (actually I wish I had thought of that )

When I got my '05, I had clear bra on it within the 1st week of ownership. 4 years later, the front of my car still looks brand new. The clar bra has been waxed and polished many times by my detailer and is still crystal clear. In fact many people don't realize the clear bra is there until they get up close to the car. There is now a small gouge in the plastic from a rock that hit my hood. If the clear bra had not been there, I would have had to repaint the front end of my car. Next year when I get the whole car repainted, I will have clear bra installed again. I wonder how much it would cost to hat the whole car covered?

I asked that question, Tony, and at least for Carolina Shine where I got mine done, it would be about $3.5k - $4k to cover the entire car. Mostly custom work, since the design shops only have patterns for the front of our cars. It definitely can be done! Steve has done a few cars this way, and in fact had covered a 77' coach with trailer earlier this year.

As to manufacturers not offering/installing this stuff:

Honda now offers the 3M system material as an option on most vehicles, as a "Clear Door-Edge Guard" product.

To me, this implies at least a tacit endorsement by Honda of the 3M product and process:

Scroll down this page to the Exterior accessories, and look at the Door Edge Film.
Same 3M stuff as used (in larger stock) for the clear bras....

Door Edge Film
