My office is pretty dull..........compared to yours!
Yeah, but you get free scallops. All I got was hemorrhoids.

My Uncle Sam offered to let me ride in one of those but I respectfully declined.
Better than $ex (almost), Scoots! You don't know what you missed!
I get the feeling he doesn't feel like he missed anything there.

That's because he wasn't flying with me at the controls!

No "glass cockpit" there. I'd almost forgotten how basic (and horrible) the instrument panels were then in comparison to now.

Analogue worked for me. Digital is nice, but we somehow survived with the steam gauges! I disagree about the term "horrible," though.
Here's your glass cockpit:

Gene, I ask this only because you brought this subject up and say it was the best job you ever had so it seems you are willing to talk about it.

Did you see combat? What sort of missions did you fly?

For those of you that DO NOT KNOW. Gene flew combat missions in Vietnam as a Huey pilot and the very "bird" that he flew is now living at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum Annex at Dulles Airport.

Gene and I have had coversations about his feeling that he is living on "borrowed time*" .

P.S. Gene, please correct me if I am wrong about this.

* My "borrowed time" story is different than his that I learned at Spring Fling 2009 at Cape May.

Well I hope I didn't offend by asking. I just took the "best job" comment to mean that Gene had good memories and would be willing to talk.

I guess it varies by either person or a person's experiences. I have a friend who was a tunnel rat in Vietnam and I asked him about it one time and he said it's nothing he wants to talk about and nothing I would want to hear about.

I can recognize the sound of Huey from a million miles away. I like the office connotation. They never let me ride in the front.
