Default As the Old saying goes:

You may have not been living it.

I saw Joe Cocker and Mad Dogs and Englishmen at Kleinhans Music Hall in concert in Buffalo, NY while on a road trip by a fluke chance of being in the right place at the right time in May of 1970. This was just three weeks before I was drafted into the U.S. Army and that night still sticks in my mind as a very memorable evening. Besides Joe Cocker and Leon Russell I counted twenty-six other people on stage for that performance which I have to say was pretty amazing. No fireworks or high tech stuff, just PURE ENERGY.

On the other hand, this video from his performance at Woodstock demonstrates just how warped his performances could be (IMHO).

For those of you that recall the sixties you may either enjoy this or cringe at the site:

Turn on your speakers and enjoy......

Small world Matt, I was there too, was just finishing up at Erie Community College. In fact went to quite a few concerts there, back in the day.

next stop is Viet Nam....oh sorry.

I have never seen Joe Cocker live, but he amazed me as a kid, I knew the songs and still wasn't sure what he was singing.

But that brought up one of my favorite TV moments.
SNL

The picture quality is not so good, but this was the only copy I could find.

Joe Cocker....I had heard his songs over the years, but I had never seen him, or even a picture of him.

One night I couldn't sleep and got up to watch TV. Joe Cocker was on. I watched him sing and make weird spastic body movements. I was really watching him perform.

I told Rick about it the next day and he said Joe Cocker had been like that for years.

Something tells me Joe inhaled.

I can't say as I remember anything from the sixties. Then again, I was three and a half years old on Jan 1, 1970. That might explain my poor memory.

That's OK, Mike. Most of the "60s" happened in the 70s anyway.

I'm not real big on remembering the early seventies either, except for stuff like the time I fell off my bike and broke my arm.

The earliest outside world events I remember reasonably well that I can put a definite date to are the 1976 Olympics. I also have clear memories of watching Star Wars in 1977.
