He would in Mississippi. Down here the best paid public employees in the state are chancery clerks. These folks perform the functions that fall under the Office of the Probate Judge in counties in most other states. In the last few years we've had a couple of crooks who used this office to enrich themselves. Both had lots of money and plenty of influential friends but both are doing extended stays at Parchman, the same state institution that houses all maner of murders, rapists, thieves, and other villians.

^ Madoff has a few more dollars than your avg chancery clerk, and we all know the law is blind in certain situations.

Bernie Madoff will never get near a prison containing anyone named Bubba or Killer. Remember, money talks. And "Lady Justice" is blind, not deaf.
There are LOTS of places for white collared criminals like Bernie Madoff.

They're called Federal Prison Camps aka Club Fed, not a bad place to spend some time either.

I see preps are being made to sell the apt he is currently confined to. Won't bring in much - only about $8 million. Wonder where he's going next?? The pokey would be nice.

wow CNBC just reported that in the 13 years the fund was operating Madoff never actually purchased any stocks or securities for any of his customers.
So apparently this was a pure Ponzi play from day 1.

how does a guy move around 50 billion without the SEC doing a little homework when they have people banging on the door saying he's running a ponzi scheme?

He won't see a day in jail. He probably knows too many important people with their fingerprints on tings where they don't belong. He goes down, and the rest will have to go down. I would see it as in my interest to keep this guy out of jail at all cost.

ok so Madoff has plead guilty.
BUT he has the nads to be claiming that his other businesses are legitimate,
even though it is reported that he co-mingled funds via wire transfers.

the question is will he start serving sentence today?
or will the judge let him walk until sentencing?
