a perplexing scenario
Being a silly boy, I bought an SUV, specifically a 2015 Mercedes GL63 which is a seven passenger large SUV.
Large SUVs have a wonderful feature of being able to hold stuff, big stuff although not a sheet of plywood big, but big enough.
The SUV is in the suburbs of LA. It will likely go onto a trailer. to get to me.
About the same time, I found a pair of loudspeakers that I have lusted after since my hifi days as a salesman.
These aren't super cheap and are a fair deal but as it stands these happen to be in a suburb of San Francisco.
Since these area an older speaker, any packing has long since been discarded. Creating new packing isn't a trivial exercise.
Standing at 67 inches tall and 27 inches wide, weighing in at 150 lbs. each these are not small speakers.
Shipping these from California to home would likely double the cost.
if not more.
but as luck would have it, they will fit in the back of the GL63.
so then there is only the trivial detail of getting them from Haywood, California down to LA before the shipper picks up the GL.
I thought about flying out with the new license plates and making the drive but then we're back at moving up the cost of the speakers.

From a $$ perspective it’s gotta be some big bucks to have the SUV shipped cross country in enclosed transport so I would think it would be much cheaper to fly out and drive it back plus that is an advantage of being retired. The flip side is do you want to spend your time doing that and do you feel that the car will make it without any issues as it is a new car to you that you haven’t driven yet.
Have this type of speaker for over 45yrears
