We rarely order in or get take out. On occasion, we will get lazy on a Sunday afternoon and call for a pizza, but not very often.
We do go out for pizza though. One local restaurant has tasty pizza and serves great warm bread with an olive oil/garlic seasoned dipping sauce. By the time the pizza comes, I'm full.
Having grown up in a predominately Italian neighborhood in Queens, NYC (just north of Ozone Park home to the Bonano family) I consider myself a "pizza snob". Here in Northern Virginia there are only two places that I will eat pizza.
IMHO, most places that deliver make pizza one of two ways. Either like cardboard with tomato sauce and some cheese on it, or like bread with tomato sauce on it.
My favorite place is Ciro's NY Pizza in Centreville. The place is ALWAYS busy. Good food at reasonable prices. And the closest thing to New York pizza that I have had outside of NYC.
The added bonus is that Sal is an Formula One fan so we get to talk about the latest or up coming race. Needless to say, he is a Ferrari fan.

Italian neighbourhood,here too,(Cotroni,Violi,and Rizzuto families,(Bad Boys...))and I'm also a pizza snob,for real Italian Pizza,not Pizza Hut for me.
Is New York pizza the thin crust type? I like deep dish the best. Numero Uno here is similar to Chicago style, I believe.
Yes.
A good NY style pizza has several trade marks to it.
1. Almost a paper thin crust on the bottom that was hand thrown not pressed. It almost goes crunch when one bites through it.
2. One should be able to get almost a full arms length between taking a bite and having that string of cheese that resembles the suspension cables on the Verrazano Narrows Bridge connecting one's mouth with the slice of pizza.
3. If one folds the slice in the middle along the length it should produce a stream of oil that drips off, if one has pepperoni toppings.
Regarding Chicago style (known in NY as Sicilian) It is great for bread lovers that like bread with tomato sauce on it.
We rarely have pizza delivered. But when we do, we have many great places to choose from. It's great to live in a college town! We would like a good eat in pizza joint, but the only two near us are chains that we don't like. We do go to a local diner a couple of times per month.

When we run out of time, we go to one of our local neighborhood bistro-type places. If order something on special, we get outa there for 20 bucks + tip.
I pizza but Kathy can't tolerate the sauce or a lot of cheese
