Large crowds and traffic wouldn't bother my daughter's family with season tickets to Disneyland for the past 10 years.

I led an S2000 group drive at Watkins Glen a few years ago for S2kca.com, we did it a couple years actually. We drove the historic road course, and a group drive of the Watkins Glen track , they let the S2000 group go on their own. It was supposed to be parade laps but the pace car got us up over 90 mph. We hit some nice restaurants, a winery, and a brewery. We drove around the lakes. Just a real nice region. Two Goats Brewing was a great place to stop to quench our thirst with a great view of the lake nearby.

I drove into Pigeon Forge on a Saturday in July, and it was worse than NYC traffic. It took us hours to get through a short distance of the town. I was told it was the busiest wedding destination in the USA at that time.

Been to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg a couple times, once for a wedding and once just passing through. Not anxious to go back and face that traffic and those tourist traps even thought this would put a get-together within driving distance of us. Now, I am always ready to revisit my roots in the Finger Lakes. I will be the one in the rental Mustang.

But if a meet-up is organized in Gatlinburg, I will put up with the tourist mob if that's what it takes to hook up with you great Vintage folk.

Sounds very similar to the Vintage Spring Fling we had there in June 2006.

I think we were there around 2012-2013 , most of us were from S2kca.com . I guess most group drives of the region would encompass the same key spots , give or take. We had a blast. It is about 5 hours from my hometown, a bit easier to get to compared to a 12 hour drive to the Dragon region.

Having never been to the area I did NOT know about the traffic and/or congestion. So with that stated: I withdraw the suggestion.

On the other hand I agree that the Finger Lakes / Watkins Glen area is nice. Several weeks ago I sent Ken an E-mail suggesting Camden, Maine.

We refer to the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area as Hillbilly Vegas.

Not to be confused with the Redneck Riviera.
