Default A question for the gardeners

A question for the gardeners.

If you live in an area with a short growing season, are you sorry to see it coming to an end?

Our plants are dying off, all our hard work of the summer is fading away, but that's OK as we were getting tired. Tired of mowing the lawn, tired of watering pots and flowers, and tired of dealing with weeds.

A recent newspaper article by a woman who writes a gardening column said this was how she often felt at the end of the season, as did some of her fellow gardeners.

We still have work to do in the yard to put the garden to "bed" for the season.

We'll be ready to start again in the spring, and I'll get excited with the first crocus, tulip and lilacs on the trees.

Until then, maybe we're ready for our long winter nap. Maybe I'm ready because we have no choice in the matter.

Did you feel the same way about sending kids back to school in the fall?

I'm just getting ready for the season to start. From July until now it has been too hot to do more than the minimum necessary to keep the yard from pushing the house off of its foundation. Now is the time that I'm starting to think I could spend an entire Saturday pruning trees and vines.

I know I feel the same way when I send the grand children home.

Love to have them visit, love that I can send them home.

Don't talk about the coming winter,Lainey....

On my way home, from work, tonight,I stopped at the hardware store, and bought Styrofoam rose cones...

And,up north,in the Laurentide Park,they already had some snow,today...
