"Your Result: Philadelphia

Your accent is as Philadelphian as a cheesesteak! If you're not from Philadelphia, then you're from someplace near there like south Jersey, Baltimore, or Wilmington. If you've ever journeyed to some far off place where people don't know that Philly has an accent, someone may have thought you talked a little weird even though they didn't have a clue what accent it was they heard."

Not. Even. Close.

My result: Philadelphia. I've only been there a few times. No way, no how.

This one got me dead on: From the South. I can't possibly understand how Val's results showed Philly. There is no one more Southern than her!

Dead on. Boston! I knew it wouldn't peg me as southern as pen and pin sound totally different in my world. The first time I heard my niece's husband ask for a pen, I wondered how he would write with a pin.

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland
"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

This seems accurate to me. Most peeps can't quite place my accent and ask me where I'm from. Although quite a few say "suthin'". The cable guy a couple of weeks ago thought Louisiana!

That's why we say, "give me an ink pen" to differentiate the two.

Well he forgot to ask for the ink pen! Gene, you don't sound too southern to me, and I know (says me) I don't really sound like I'm from Boston. My accent is nowhere near as strong as any of the Kennedy clan. Although, our Cali girl, Patty keeps telling me I talk funny.
