Default Race Driver Killed

I do not understand this. A NASCAR rookie lost control and was ejected from his truck and killed. Of all people to not wear a seat belt, one would think a race driver would be the last to neglect it.
A trajedy that did not have to happen.

The death of any person is tragic so don't get me wrong, but this death is just plain freegin stupid. I 100% agree batdodo, a pro racer should be the 1st person to understand the need for safety equipment. I wonder if he forgot or was of the attitude that nothing could hurt him on the streets... What an idiot.

Sometimes those who know better don't act better...
ie: doctors who smoke and abuse drugs

Tragic and so unavoidable...dark side of human nature?

What I meant by 'unavoidable' is that there seems to always be some one that fall into the trap...people who risk everything for so little in return.
why no belt? A little uncomfortable? An extra second to buckle?

Sometimes we just have to shake our heads and hope others learn from a tragedy like this.

I agree. Racer are RISK takers - when it's all said and done, it is still clearly the backbone of the best of them. He took a risk probably without givng it any thought. I admit it's odd that a racer would not be conditioned to strapping up but for whatever reason he did not and paid a dear price.
