It's not a bad thing for LH as he can now claim he drove for Team Scuderia. LH will always be a legend and what a great way to finish his career with Ferrari added to his long accomplishments!
I just came across a lineup for the first Indy F1 race that I attended 23 years ago. If you were following the sport back then you'll get a kick at seeing both the driver's and their rides.
I have to admit I am rather amused by the red bull / Christian Horner noise in the press.
Is Helmut Marko in the background pulling strings? the two have had their differences and Horner was trying to push Marko out.
The other thing i thought of, was the financial audit and fines levied of Red Bull somehow involved?
Both wild speculation on my part and I'm only asking questions.
I've no idea who Byron is but I did watch the highlights (as usual a bunch of wrecks). I smiled at his race winning comments "I'm just a kid from racing on computers and winning the Daytona 500, I can't believe it. I wish my dad was here. He's sick, but this is for him, man. We've been through so much, and we sat up in the grandstands together and watched the race. This is so freaking cool."
Andretti has talked for years about wanting a F1 team and the existing teams have made it clear another team would dilute their earnings. It always comes back to money! In case you haven't heard Andretti's entry in 2026 was turned down. He still plans to work with GM and develop a F1 engine.
The BBC claims "F1's key finding centred on engine supply. It essentially decided that having to use an engine from an existing manufacturer for a limited period while having close links to a company that would soon be a rival was too big a compromise on the team's potential competitiveness.” The BBC says the door is still open for a chance in 2028. It would be great if GM made an engine that kicked ass.
I think the F1 has an anti-American stance when it comes to our race cars . . . but big money making tracks are just fine.
Andretti brought GM in for advertisement, GM had zero plans of building anything at the time. Supposedly that has changed now but an Andretti/GM car powered by a Renault/Alpine engine isn't really a GM anything, just marketing for GM.
Andretti thought GM would make his entry seem more serious, and it would have if GM were bringing an engine, but they weren't. New concorde agreement for 2026 I believe, it should be written to include 2 new teams.
