Radio Days.
In another thread the discussion was about things remembered from our youth that simply don't exist anymore. I asked about a radio show that my mother used to listen to in the early 50s titled "The Make Believe Ballroom". No one seems to remember it.
Anyway, Jerry suggested that we start a thread about what we remember from the radio, so here it is. Post what you remember, from any period. Have fun. I'll start.

Ah...no question: My fondest Radio Recollection is:
clue: Hi Ho Silver......Awaaaaaaaaaaaay
The Lone Ranger with Clayton Moore in the title role, Jay Silverheels at Tonto, and of course Silver
When I was a kid, I could probably recite most of the episodes by heart.....

I also remember:
*Amos 'n Andy (ah....the innocence of the era....how little did we know)
*Fibber Magee and Molly
*Tales from the Inner Sanctum (....with the squeaky door at the opening
)
Hmmmm, charlie cannot discuss these.....he was not born for another 15-20 years

I remember listening to the late Allison Steele, the "Night Bird" on WNEW-FM in the early to mid 70s. Her voice was sensuous and I listened and imagined about how beautiful this woman behind the microphone must be. I'm sure that it wasn't by accident that she was on late night. The music was incidental.
Granted, I'm no old fogie like some people around here (
), but when I was growing up my father was in the military and we had the opportunity to live overseas a number of times. I remember when I was in 7th grade or so living in Germany and Armed Forces Radio used to play episodes of "The Shadow" in the evenings on, I believe, Saturday or Sundays. My mom and I used to sit in the kitchen while she made dinner and we'd listen to the shows.
Liked them so much that we actually bought the entire series on cassette to listen to over and over when we were on road trips for vacations.
