Read this.
How about a thumbnail precie on that book's premise(s), johnny...
I must admit that you take on an uphill battle trying to convince those of us here who question the current administration's motives for invading Iraq.
But if you're game, so are we I'm sure.

I always wondered if a $1 billion reward for Saddam's death wouldnot have been more effective (certainly cheaper!). Let the mob take car of the problem.

But was getting rid of Saddam the best thing for the US. Or was it a good thing for the petrochemical industry?
matt, I think very few would question the bravery of the troops. The question is the motive of the warmakers. The folks there are following orders, no more , no less.

Well, they aren't robots. I think point is valid, but overstated.

..This war is, and has always been, about establishing a US client state on the Persian Gulf. Somewhere we can base troops, ships, and airplanes, so we can keep the oil flowing.
Thanks for posting the link, Rob.
The article wasn't about politics, or about what you think about the war. The article was meant to honor those very young men that we have sent to do a nearly impossible job. (Isn't that what the Marines are for?)
I have HUGE respect for these young Marines, and feel that this article pays appropriate homage to these brave men. I'm sorry that the reporter got Nick's rank wrong, but I'm so glad that he seemed to capture the essence of this tragic hero. I'm especially glad that I had a chance to see a photo of him as I now have a face to put with the story of Rick's son's friend. I hope that Nick's family appreciates this effort to honor his memory in print.
The Marines are truly one of the institutions that exemplifies what makes our country so special.
I just wish the politicians respected them enough to not ask for their sacrifice without sufficient justification.
Semper Fidelis!

I suppose that Bahrain and Qatar don't count?
Another, more graphic, perspective of this war, to read.
