Really?? that needed a fact check?
Snopes provides a valuable service to the world checking out dubious stories that reach the world stage.
There are stories which are highly plausible. but story simply isn't supported by the facts.
and then there is this story...

how could anyone need this fact checked?

I did my own fact checking on 2 stories, one of them was a "rumor" that Justice Kagen should recluse herself from a case as she had been involved. Snopes denied any link. I went to the SCOTUS website, did some digging and found that Kagen indeed should have recused herself as she had been involved in a particular case. Not saying to keep it not political.
The other "story" had to do with the military (not saying again) that snopes said it was one way. I knew from personal experience and my access to public documentation that snopes was promulgating false information.
I always fact check without giving snopes the time of day. Worse than worthless, IMO.

If snopes gets it right 98% of the time (and i suspect they do) they are a better source of truth than most of the Internet based "news sources" out there, especially those that are collectively referred to as "social media".. But it's like wikipedia. Not perfect but a good place to start digging for truth..
