I heard a remembrance today on the radio as I was driving this afternoon. They had an interview with a music critic/historian that pointed out that it was ironic that one of his biggest hits: Rhinestone Cowboy caused the divorce from his first wife. She did not like the song and thought that it would ruin his career. He recorded it anyway, and it went on to be one of his biggest hits. She divorced him two weeks after he recorded it, and before it became a hit.
