Default Ritual or Rut ?

Every morning I get up and make coffee.
fill the pot and load the coffee maker.
grab the cannister of beans, one scoop into the grinder, grind the beans and into the filter assembly, click it on and wait.

but i ran out of beans friday and my local Dunkins only had ground coffee. they were out of beans too.
since it was late friday night and saturday morning wasn't far away I bought the ground.

now my whole morning ritual is all messed up.
I keep trying to put the ground coffee into the grinder which does appear to be a rather superfluous act.

SO is this a ritual or a rut???

discuss.

If you enjoy the activity = ritual. If not = rut.

We are creatures of habit. Man or beast we all pattern. In your instance, it's Vintage Ritual. A less Vintage person would have clicked the coffee ap on their I phone, known instantly where fresh beans were and gone and gotten them. They've been afflicted with Jobs curse. Damn near sounds biblical doesn't it?

Regarding trying to put ground coffee in the grinder. I've done the same thing.

Morning Ritual.

Ritual.

I have a few things I do in sequence as part of the morning ritual. If I do the tasks out of order, things just get messed up. Poor might not get fed.

I don't know about your cat Lainey, but if I missed feeding my dog, she would let me know, in no uncertain terms.

You're right. She won't let me forget to feed her. She always has some dry food to nibble on, but she does let me know she wants her morning ration of canned food. She hops on the bed when Rick gets up, gets in my face to "encourage" me to get up and head into the kitchen. Her feeding is second on the ritual list after I make Rick some coffee.

My coffee was clear this morning. I set up my Mr. Coffee with the water and ground beans before I go to bed. I forgot to put the coffee in last night. Did the same thing on Friday night. Fixed the problem and am happy now.

I have a Keurig. No coffee beans, just select your favorite blend and push a button. Then I get the paper, grab my coffee and read it. Same daily ritual, except if I am detailing a customers car.
