Road Rudeness
I often think....if everyone who is about to cut someone off, or commit a rude driving act.... thought to him/herself, "What if that person was my mother??"
That might work for most people (except Legal Bill, of course
)

I do get angry when folks drive in the breakdown lane or use a closed lane until the last, possible second and then slow down all merging traffic. I wish I had Dana's patience. Maybe it's why my blood pressure is so high.
The most annoying thing to me when I'm driving my S is the folks who monopolize the left travel lanes when they shouldn't. Also, more and more, I'm seeing trucks use the left lane which pisses me off no end.
I like Jerry's idea of imagining that the offender(s) are someone I know, but that only goes so far. I'm not that friendly a guy.

I always regret responding but here goes. I am a deputy prosecutor and we worked out a plea recently which the defendant's attorney hoped included dismissal of an unsafe lane charge. The Defendant went down the emergency lane to the exit passing all the others waiting. I said no because this was the first time I was in a position to thump one of those jerks.

Probably so, White.
You used to be able to count on the truckers to set an example on the road, but definitely not any more.
Gene, you're right about the contrast with Germany. Of course, when people are allowed to travel in excess of 100MPH, they really do have to be more aware of everyone around them.
