Yes, he was an avid skier and had a 911. He was also a very good baseball player and the movie The Natural was a perfect role for him, naturally. Paul Newman, his buddy, was an accomplished race car driver. He would bring his 240Z to a dealership I bought my 280Z and 300ZX from. The owner raced Datsuns and had a first class speed shop. Paul would bring his car to George and have work done on it. George and I were friends and he gave me a ride in the new 300ZX twin turbo. I was terrified as he was a dare devil of a driver. 
Two great people way beyond the screen.
