It's all about poor judgement, Bob. I think folks get so comfortable with aggressive attacks into turns in normal weather that they forget the laws of physics when it gets a little wet (or cold). That said, it doesn't take much misjudgement to lose control.

Still, if I can't come up with a cheap fix for the left thigh soaking, it's back to the Pinto for me.
Gore-tex pants do the trick.

^ Actually, I meant to post... Some folks have said that if you spread some fresh Shin-Etsu grease on the seams of the convt. top, it can seal out the leaks. Personally, I've never worried about it, but yes I've gotten soaked too.

Chaz,

The Shin-Etsu grease does work. I had a leak between the seal and the window and the Shin-etsu grease stopped it.

It doesn't prevent the stream of water that flows when you open the door.

Hmm... I wonder how it gets in the rubber moulding then (which is what it seems to be doing when I get drenched)...

Thats interesting. I've never heard that before. Do you mean that the water actually gets into the gasket on the top?

In my case the water was seeping between the gasket and the window, but the Shin grease applied to the gasket stopped it.

Now when I get wet it is because I open the door (or the window) and the water rolls off the top and over the gasket at the corner where the top meets the windshield.

I don't drive around with the windows down in the rain; if I did it would probably feel a lot like an MG but only if I loosened the top clips as well. Other than that, this is a wonderful rain car IMHO. We all know that wet or cold S02's do not offer an abundance of grip but as any 'smooth' driver knows they do not bite you unless you are pushing the wet weather envolope. I have never experienced any of the problems that so many people bring up with driving this car in the rain.

I've tracked this car many time in the rain...not a problem.

My rain tires is an S02 it works well in the rain - in fact at the FC track day in 04 I was on S02s in the rain. You have to be aware of how much tread is left and if it is cold. Cold will really kill that tire. Low tread will hurt any tire in the rain....

The weather seal grease is good stuff. It will help keep your seals in good shape through the years, besides helping with sealing water leaks. I've noticed water sometimes gets in the 'split' of the weather strip at the top of the window. The seal has to be two pieces there so the top can fold. Only problem with a good application of grease is . . . it's greasy.

S02's do not like standing water.

[QUOTE=Chazmo,Dec 1 2005, 06:12 PM]It's all about poor judgement, Bob.
