So long as ICE vehicles are allowed on the public roads, I think they will continue to go up in value well beyond my life.

At the time of purchase, it was the perfect car for me. (2009 Rio Yellow) When I was married, my wife was pretty much the perfect gal for me. Years later they both still are and I don't plan on leaving either one for a newer, snazzier model!

When we were in the market (Late 2002) I went to the local Porsche dealer to look at the Boxster. At the time I was crewing on several 911/356 vintage race teams and sought input from my associates. To a man/woman they told me get a 911 or nothing When I went to the dealer on a cold rainy day the salesman gave me the sales pitch for the Boxster but when I said I was also looking at the S2000 he admitted it was a better choice and his only upside to the P car was the extra trunk So here we are coming up on 17 years and the S still resides in our garage Several other neat cars have been parked on the driveway ( Evo X, WRXx 2, BRZ, Fiat Spider, Fiat Abarth and several motorcycles) but the S has/is the keeper

I agree on both points.

Somewhat similar story here. I was restoring my Healey 3000 and was tired of the long wait (that is a story in and of itself). I decided to buy a modern sports car while the Healey restoration continued so that I had a fun summer car while I was waiting. The plan was to sell the modern car after the Healey was completed. I looked at a combination of new and used sports cars that were in the price range I had budgeted. They included a used Corvette, Boxster and BMW MZ and a new Miata and S2000. I was leaning towards the used cars as they had already suffered the worst of their depreciation and I felt I would lose less money when I sold it two or three years later. But the used cars all had one problem or another that put me off. I already had one project going, I wasn't looking for another one. The Miata was a wonderful car and I truly enjoyed my test drive. Plus, it was less expensive. However, the S2000 was a whole different level of driving experience. Because i was shopping in October of 2002, the dealers were anxious to get the sports cars off the lot and I got mine for about $4,000 under sticker, which made the price less of an issue. I have to also say that this web site played a part in my decision. I found great information here and a more positive, fun group of people than those on the Corvette, BMW and Porsche forums. Plus, it seemed those other cars had more problems than the S2000. So the Miata was a close second, but I bought the S2000. I had to sell my last Bugeye Sprite to make room in the garage. That was a sad day. But a couple of years later when I finally finished the Healey, the S2000 stayed right where it was. I had no interest in selling it and I still don't.

I had dinner last night with a retired buddy from work. He bought the first one in town the first year and let me take my first test drive in it. He still has it but only drives it a few hundred miles a year. I told him about the article and that made him smile. No mods and low mileage.
