Default Salmonella

My wife went to get a hamburger for lunch on Thursday November 20 at a place next to the gym where she exercises. The next morning she started throwing up and having diarrhea. This continued through Saturday and I tried to get her to go to emergency on Saturday evening. She resisted. On Sunday morning I called 911 and the local EMS brought her to the hospital. By then she was dehydrated, her blood pressure was about 80 and her kidney were about shut down.

They immediately put her on IV. They also gave her the antibiotic Cipro. She stayed in the hospital until Tuesday December 2. Fortunately by the her numbers had returned to normal and her kidneys were operating ok. Her digestive system was not quite back to normal yet, that took until the 8th. She is still drinking Gatorade type drinks to improve her blood chemistry.

The whole thing was pretty scary. She could have died.

It might not have affected most people that badly, but because of her RA her immune system is compromised. (Patti, take notice!)

My wife said she will never eat hamburger out again. That is something that I've not done for a long time. I told her that in the future, if I think that she needs emergency medical attention I will take her even if she protests.

Herman, scary story; glad to hear things came out ok. Salmonella can be spread so easily from so many sources it's really a wonder it doesn't happen more often.
