Say hi to Mitch
Well, we have another proud new member of Vintage, Mitch! Please say hello to our newest member. Here is some info about him.
"Hi Everyone,
My name is Mitch, and I live in Coral Springs, FL, with my wife, three kids, and a dog. My oldest daughter has been driving for two weeks. We're still sane and accident free. So far, so good.
My first car was a 1974 Pontiac Firebird, which I bought after my first year in college. When I left the dealership with a non-working tachometer, later finding out that the tach cable was never installed at the factory, I should have seen that event as a sign of problems to come. It certainly was.
I remember lusting after a 240Z while in high school. The sticker was around $3600, but the Datsun dealer wouldn't sell it without upgrades, bringing the price over $5000, an insurmountable number, at the time.
I believe very strongly, and I'm sure many here will agree, that when you have sports cars in your blood, it's a lifetime affliction that can't be cured. I've had many sports cars over the years, and my wife is resigned to the fact that we will always have that 'extra' car.
Until two weeks ago I had a 98 M3. I've owned many 3 series BMWs over the years. It was a nice car, but I lost interest. I picked up the 05 S2000, and I'm as excited now at almost 51 years old, as I was when I got my first car!
Unfortunately my wife enjoys driving a manual transmission. I don't mind, but we agreed that she could drive it under one condition - if she leaves one used tissue or bag of 'stuff' from Walmart in the car, or messes up the car in any way, I'll go to the closest dealership to buy her her own S2000. And I'm serious!
Some of this stuff, only people here will understand. I'm glad I found you.
Mitch"

Hi Mitch, great story. You'll fit right in. Now there's a threat your wife can live with, I'll bet. We all feel you on your new teenage driver. Hang in there. Like us, it gets better with time.
MitchI hope your wife leaves a big bag from Walmart in the car. Then you two can go play together. Be sure to get a set of walkie-talkies to go with the S2000s so you can ask each other questions like, "Do you smell that?", or "I'm gonna blow this guy off, get ready to pass him too".
That's what my husband and I do.
Hey Mitch
!
I've had a 1978 Special Edition Black/Gold T/A, and 1992 ragtop T/A, and a 1995 T/A and never had any problems with them. Well, except for a bad starter and a tail light that popped out.
I can't wait until the new Camero. Maybe the'll bring back the Firebird also.
Anyway, welcome!
