OK...throw some nice thoughts out. Anyone having any???

You know that old song (from Girl Scouts?) -

Make new friends
But keep the old
One is silver
And the other gold

I hope to do both in the coming year.

I do! The members of Vintage (and S2kI) have a wealth of diverse knowledge and are kind enough to share it when someone needs a bit of help.

I asked a question about tax software in a thread a while back. ralper took the time to send me a great PM about some of the programs he has worked with. I printed the PM and we're using his suggestions/input in our search. I've been meaning to send him a PM to thank him, but I've been slack. (Thank you, ralper.)

I will jump in and extend the olive branch of peace and love to all the Vintagers and club members in general. This is a wonderful forum and we are all privileged to have a place to share our thoughts, get together several times a year and enjoy our little cars, and have intelligent (for the most part) conversation. Whether or not we agree on all aspects of life, we are agreeable people. to all of you and I wish for each and every one a very Happy and prosperous New Year.

'04 has been a tough, unsettling year for many of us. Through it, the Vintage community has been supportive and vibrant -- and we have continued to grow.

Perhaps the best blessing I can give to the forum as a whole: may we always be able to express ourselves in constructive and open ways.

I wish you all the best for '05, and I look forward to seeing many of you again through the year.

Julie,

You are quite welcome. My pleasure. That used to be the attitude around here. Ask, and someone will help. I hope we can get back to that.

Val,

That olive branch has only become necessary lately. It used to be that everyone had a live and let live attitude. Now it seems like everyone has something to prove, and you have to walk on eggshells lest your post be taken out of context. We used to be able to discuss things, and our differences of opinion was what made us strong and gave us a chance to learn from each other. Now it is a source of friction. I hope we get back to where we were.

Chaz,

Yes, '04 has been a tough year, and like you, I am looking forward to '05.

Deb,

One is silver,
And the other is gold.

Everyone,

I'm looking forward to a better '05. The future is always supposed to be better. Happy New Year.

^^ Although completely unrelated, those lines remind me of the poem, "Nothing Gold Can Stay" by one of my favorite poets, Robert Frost.

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leafs a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Happy New Year, y'all.

Edit: Now another verse is going through my mind. After a bit of searching, I found out it's by Katharine Lee Bates (1859-1929). Any Vintagers have a big wedding anniversary in the coming year?!

"For a Golden Wedding"
Dawn love is silver, Wait for the west: Old love is gold love-Old love is best

My wife and children (21, 31) came to my office today (project site) at noon time. We had lunch at a funky spot and I gave them a 1/2 hour tour of my $100 MM project in center city Philly. It was fun to share a bit of my work life with them

As the saying goes, 'family' is the most important thing. The events of the last few days in Asia have reinforced that for me

Is it possible that only 7 people out of all of the Vintage Forum have something nice to say in the "Say Something Nice Thread"? My, my, my, times have certainly changed around here.

Here are a few nice things to think about:

Spring is only a few months away.

2005 promises to be a good year.

There is the Headquarters Meet in March, the Spring Fling in April/May, and a wealth of other smalller regional meets being planned (I'm sure).

Most of the good people who have been on this forum for a while are still here, and some who have been absent I hope will return in 2005.

Our S2000s have made it through another year, and we're all still in love with them.

Most of us have made it through another year, and mostly, we're not too much worse off for the wear.

How is that for some nice things? Come on, you can think of more.
