Scam phone numbers: International Area Codes with a +1 Country Code

If you get a call from a number with one of the following Area Codes, it's probably a scammer.

232—Sierra Leone
242 — Bahamas
246 — Barbados
268 — Antigua
284 — British Virgin Islands
345 — Cayman Islands
441 — Bermuda
473 — Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique
649 — Turks and Caicos
664 — Montserrat
721 — Sint Maarten
758 — St. Lucia
767 — Dominica
784 — St. Vincent and Grenadines
809, 829, and 849 — The Dominican Republic
868 — Trinidad and Tobago
869 — St. Kitts and Nevis
876 — Jamaica

Here's my view Ken... Unless I'm waiting on a specific call from a resort in a foreign country about a reservation, OR, my family from Brazil, OR someone in the family traveling (and not texting).... and it's an international number I assume it's a scam regardless.

 

I even consider calls from Ken a scam!

If you look carefully, you'll note that those numbers have a +1 country code. They will appear as from the US. Personally, if a number isn't in my call list, I don't answer. Some people will answer any call.

Duh... Yes Ken, those are places that use the US numbering system, vs a +44 for UK or +91 for India.

And you recognize every area code in the US? Just out of idle curiosity, what are VA's area codes? I doubt seriously that everyone might recognize those area codes as being from a possible scammer.

 

Lots of countries in the Caribbean. You left out India. I get more of them than from any other country.
