Default Scheduled Maintenance

I'm scheduled to bring my S in for service at 1PM today. 60,000 service...check this, check that, check this, check that, and change the oil. $389. Does anyone else take their S in for scheduled maintenance?

Since I take mine in for about $300 worth of fluid changes & routine checks each fall (and I just parked the S for the winter with exactly 36000 miles) I haven't needed anything 'scheduled'. As mileage goes up, I'm sure I'll need to take it in for specific items as they come up.

I've done my own service thus far.

Rick brings ours to work when he needs an oil change, or other fluids changed. Hanging around with the local NE guys, they are pretty good at knowing what should be done when. One guy even has a lift. Rick changes the dif fluid and transmission fluid more often than recommended. At 51K on the car he's done a few of the other "check this" "check that" on his own.

The "check this" "check that" at a dealership, is never a bargain....

I have a local guy who does the same thing as the dealer for a lot less. His mechanics are all certified. I take my Lexus, Jeep and the S before I sold it. Very reliable but no designer coffee or fancy lounge.

I have 32K on mine now, so far oil changes every 3K, changed cabin air filter twice. Transmission and rear end oil changed every 12K, anti-freeze and brake fluid changed once. I have a K&N air filter, clean it once a year.

I do most of my own work. As it spends most of the winter on jack stands I have plenty of time to check the underside and related "stuff".

I do my own inspections and fluid/filter changes and log the work in my owner's manual. I don't have a new car warranty on it any more but it still has a few months to go on the CPO warranty.

I haven't needed anything other than fluids as I only have 22,000 on the car.
