My cousin has served in the Marines for 21 years. He did 2 tours in Afghanistan. One day he was leading a patrol into an Afghan village. They thought the Taliban had left. He was talking to a village leader when the man pushed him to the ground. A Taliban was hiding in a nearby building and fired a shot at Chris. The other Marines obliterated the sniper. When Chris got up the concrete wall behind where he was standing had a bullet hole on it. That spot was where he was standing and it would have been a fatal head shot. When he finished his tour he came back to the states. He had his 20 years and was thinking about retiring. He had attained the rank of major. The Marines said that if he shipped over for 2 more years he could retire as a colonel. He did and he was promoted to Colonel this week. He has 1 more year to serve and is now doing combat training for new recruits. Our entire family is very proud of him. He had his picture taken on a while horse in full dress uniform with a chest full of medals with his saber extended. He is a great husband and Dad. He comes to our beach house and we take his 3 sons fishing with my grandson. He will be closer now so we will see him more often. He is a true HERO!!! and a credit to the USMC!! OOHRAH Chris.
