I replaced the clunky cross training shoes for walking with running sneakers and have good sneakers for Zumba with small heel inserts in all of them. I also avoid flat shoes. In spite of stretching and icing, the heel problem persists; I do wonder if I have a mild case of plantar fasciitis. I decided to once again try an insert specifically for plantar faciitis to see if that might help. I bought the over the counter insert, (I had a coupon ) maybe I found a cheap cure! I could really feel the support in the arch, and my heel feels pretty good tonight. Maybe the arch support helped too as overall my feet and knees felt pretty good during and after class.

I know custom made orthotics are pretty pricey. Has anyone else with heel issues had good luck with the cheapie inserts?
on the inserts I bought.

I put them in my Zumba sneakers, underneath the innersoles that came in the sneakers. No issue with room. My feet are happy, they are no longer hurting, I don't have that AM tendon stiffness and my knees continue to feel better too. I'm guessing the arch support is helping in that area. I also cut back on some of the stretches I was doing. I think I was overstretching and "undoing" any healing.

I bought an extra pair of the inserts and put them in some casual walking around sneakers. What a difference. I like having happy feet!

Lainey, interesting.... hope the fix continues.

I've been having leg cramps at night. Couldn't figure out why; then I thought, what the heck I'll buy new tennis shoes although the ones I have seem fine. I bought the exact same shoe and as soon as I tried them on I realized how much difference there was - - new to old. No cramps last night. The other pair were only a few months old but they don't hold up as much as they appear to.

Glad the new shoes have helped, Dave. Sneakers don't last as long as they used to. Word is that sneakers last for 80 hours at the gym. I can tell you that I did notice a lack of support in the sneakers I used for Zumba right around that time. It also helps to alternate the shoes/sneakers you wear. It is supposed to extend the life of them a bit. I now alternate between two pairs of sneakers for Zumba.....in different colors of course.
