Happy to be retired and to be able to sit in my chair with a box of tissues, and hand sanitizer beside me. Hoping I don't give the germs to Rick. As of now, it's still a head cold. I've increased the dosage on my inhalers, hoping these germs don't make it to my chest and start an asthma flare. If it does, I know I'm going no where for another week. I've already been a slug since Saturday!
Any chance it could be Covid? Not really sure if that matters, though.

Hope you feel better soon. Have you been sick since Saturday? I know that colds can sometimes last quite a while.

I guess any respiratory symptom can be COVID but I won't bother to check. I'm going to guess I might have picked up germs at a doctor's appointment or at PT. But who knows? I haven't been around anyone except Rick since Friday AM, so he's the only one who may pick up my germs.

Symptoms (mild) started Friday. Sunday evening, yesterday and today have required more tissues. Right now it just feels like a typical common head cold, which is a common trigger for an asthma flare. That usually happens when the sneezing stops and the cold germs move around and pi$$ off the airways and the coughing starts. When I recently switched my daily medication for the asthma to one that is both an inhaled steroid and bronchodilator, the nurse prac told me I can increase the dosage quite a bit if a cold starts, in the hopes of not needing prednisone. We will see if that works.

Thanks for the concern, as always, Sue.

I seldom get a cold but when I do it lasts about two weeks no matter what I take.

Sue, how is Josie?

Caroline is graduating in May with a degree in Finance, but she doesn’t have a job lined up yet. I jokingly offered her a cardboard box and a black magic marker so she could make a sign and stand on a street corner.

Benjamin has an internship with Barclays in NYC next summer, so hopefully that will lead to a job after he graduates in two years. He’s also a Finance major.

Back to the topic.

Yes, I think much of what we take does nothing for the cold. They have taken cold medicine off the market after proving it doesn't do anything. Cough medicine doesn't to much either. Generally, the cold has to run it's course. In my case, when the cough lingers too long, or other issues develop, then sometimes a look is needed. I never ever ask for an antibiotic after having a cold, yet I know people who still do. Most docs won't even prescribe them any more.

I have been offered antibiotics in the past with the lingering cough, and generally I decline them unless the cough has still lingered and the asthma meds aren't helping.

Only cold medicine I use is NyQuil if I’m really sick.

Khau, thanks for asking about Josie. I think she is about the same age as Caroline. Congratulations to Caroline, and also to you and Shelley!

Josie is fine, and will be graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mt. Carmel in May 2027. It is taking her a year longer because she started out at OSU and then transferred to Mt. Carmel.

The topic is Shooting the Breeze, so we can talk about anything, right?

I normally praise Amazon Prime since the delivery folks all know where we live. But, this one gets me. I ordered a picture frame on Monday. They said it would be here the next day. It didn't come and the tracker said it wasn't shipped. On Wednesday they said shipping was delayed and to cancel if I wanted to. So I canceled it. Then they replied I couldn't cancel it. WTF. I can refuse delivery or send it back when it does get here.

Don't tell me I can cancel it and then a day later tell me I can't.

I ordered the same frame from a different vendor on Amazon. They are saying it will be here tomorrow. TBD.

I came out of a property last night after a meeting and Amazon decided to leave a package at the front door (not very safe). I thought that I would help a resident out by delivering it to them. I looked at the name and address and we were at 744 Wonderland Rd, but the package was addressed to someone at 770 Wonderland Rd. These delivery people aren't too bright.

We typically have the same driver's who even bring a treat for our dog if she's out. At times we have someone new, usually a late night or weekend delivery. Still we've only had deliveries to the wrong location a couple of times over many years. My impression is the delivery people are hard working and do a great job.
