Shooting the Breeze 17-19
Another retirement benefit, Doing yard work, putting down mulch, planting flowers and vegetables and not having to try to cram the work in on weekends.
In the past, we spent much of Memorial Day weekend working in the yard. It's not even the "official" weekend and mulch is down, veggie garden is planted and flowers are planted. Rick had somewhat of a disappointing "growing season" with the plants he started, but with a few plants purchased and what he had, the yard will look lovely soon.
We're both a bit tired, heading out to dinner soon I gave him the night off from cooking.

And yet another retirement benefit today. The time to do a good deed. Not looking for a pat on the back, but thoroughly enjoyed having time to take a Y friend who now has some dementia out for some ice cream this afternoon. She is in assisted living in the memory care unit. We (another Y lady joined us) also took a stroll at the local nature preserve that I enjoy. I was glad to have an extra set of hands as my friend's footing is not what it used to be. She enjoyed the outing and I did too. Oh and the ice cream was cranberry based, with nuts, chocolate, and craisins...delicious. Just one scoop though.....
Flag's flying, lawn's mowed, most of the flowers planted, brats, burgers & beer ready, weather is perfect 70° with slight breeze. Just waiting for my son and grandson's to come over. Daughter is celebrating her 8th wedding anniversary today. MG's ready for PA. Life is good.
