Default Simple things that make you feel good.

Driving home today came across some kids selling lemonade at a 4 way stop. Bought a cup for myself and the driver behind me.
It just felt great watching the kids reaction and also the driver behind me.
Totally overpaid the cost of the lemonade but it was/is worth it.

The weather here today in So Cal. I took my morning coffee outside and sat on a pad on my swinging bench and enjoyed the view and the 72 degrees. My two kitties joined me and purred on my lap. I had my fountain on. The breeze was delightful. I was just so happy to have my house and my kitties.

I love just sitting on the patio and listening to the water bubbling in the fountain and the birds singing. The biggest bonus is when a little bird flies to the fountain and takes a drink while I'm sitting there. A little slice of heaven.

Valentine, I have my swing turned so I can watch the hummers and little birds while I'm out there. I love watching and listening to the birds, too. I've seen birds take a bath in my fountain before but never when it's on. Too much splash, then.

^This was taken on May 30, 2012 but the birds will sometimes get in the water at the base of the ring at water level. They can stand on the shallow part right around that ring and get a nice bath. I've only seen them do it a few times in the early morning. Ah, that's it. I'm not usually up in the early morning.

^This was taken on Dec. 27, 2012 but you get the idea. My swing is just barely visible with the leg showing to the left of the right column.

Waking up next to Kathy!

Of course... she is still sleeping, so I get some free time to screw around on the 'puter, read a book, have my coffee.....

Then take her her morning diet coke!

Only thing screwing up the morning is having to go to work!

Today. Digging in the dirt, planting flowers birds singing, the sound of wind chimes and summer all around me.

The hummingbird "buzzed" me a few times too.

Oh, and a top down ride home after a cookout.

I have two birdbaths in the yard and I love, love, love seeing the birds hop in and splash around. I'm surprised at how much they like the one that is just down on the ground (without a pedestal). It gets more use than any birdbath I've ever had. Another neat thing is just sitting really still and seeing the little squirrels come up and drink from the fountain. Cool stuff.

Valentine, you posted a photo of birds bathing once. Is that in your fountain or do you have to add water to something.

The previous owners left a bird bath here and I've added water but never seen it used. I can take it off the pedestal and try it on the ground.

We have a birdbath, the birds stop by, take a quick drink or a quick bath. I don't see too much activity because of where we put it. We used to have it in the flower garden next to the feeders, but the birds were too often using it as their "other facility."

We moved it next to the deck, easy to fill with a gallon jug and it seems to stay cleaner longer, though we generally dump out the water and replace with fresh daily.

Patty, could the bird bath need a good scrubbing? Maybe your birds are being picky if there is any residue on the bottom?

My birdbath, not fancy, just tip over and re-fill. I scrub it with a little brush now and again.
