Default Skiping Gears

When just cruzing I often shift past a gear or two. Like 1-2-4-6. I get a lot of comments from people who ride with me saying they never saw anyone drive like that. Anyone else?

I do it sometimes, but not often. I like going up and down through all of the gears.

Lots of discussions on S2000 Talk about this--with the general observation (including some photographic evidence) that it's bad for the synchros, particularly downshifting.

Not a good habit, at least from the perspective of the health of your transmission. HPH

I've seen the discussions on the topic. We've often skipped gears in a manual transmission automobile with no issues.

Not first to 4th or anything like that. Maybe 3rd to 5th.

I don't skip going up but sometimes when downshifting after I've used the brake too, and I'm going slow enough to do it with out over reving.

OK, it's usually when I've gotten off the freeway at 75+ and have laid on the brakes too.

Thanks for the warning but I have a hard time buying that skiping gears destroys syncros. I think lack of skill and bad shifting destroys syncros. If you can match RPM good enough that using a clutch is optional then your syncros should be fine.
