Yeah, well you are right. Some of the people in the nooks and crannies are very unfriendly. But leaving those aside, I think my general point is still true.

Not that crazy about L.A.

 

After driving roundtrip on I-405 for two hours each way today, I've discovered a major downside to SoCal

125+ miles at 70 mph/ bumper-bumper for half of the time is a little hard to take.....5-6 lanes wide

Plus, the OTHER half of the time was at 5 mph

 

^I was very lucky yesterday. I left home around 11:50 am and sailed all 160 miles to my son's place in Santa Barbara/Goleta. Never a problem.

Can I be that lucky on the way home, today?

 

^^ 70 mph on the 405 is slow!! It's not uncommon for all 5-6 lanes to be moving at 85-90 mph, and still have cars passing. The 405 is our "other" race track in SoCal.

You have to plan your trips to avoid rush hour traffic. Rush hour actually includes several hours: 6-9 AM, and 3:30-6:30 PM.

Yes, I was lucky, again! Never had a problem in 160 miles. Gorgeous crystal clear day, too. I could clearly see the Channel Islands and the many oil rigs off the coast north of Ventura. That doesn't happen in the summer. Too foggy.

 

So cal isn't always that way. It was much more lay back 20 years ago when I was a young punk. I don't like the change, but it still is a great place to live if you where to go in this crazy big place.
