Default Speed Traps.

I was trapped this weekend and got a $75.00 fine. Since this is summer driving season I thought it might be a good idea for everyone to post the location(s) of speed traps to help other members who might be out driving to avoid getting trapped. I'll start:

US 13 (South) in the Eastern Shore of Maryland, specifically around Pokemoke, MD. Actually the entire eastern shore (Maryland and Virginia) along US 13, from the Delaware border to the Cheasepeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel is notorious for speed traps.

For those coming up to Ohio in a few weeks: The last stretch up Ohio Rt. 8 from Akron to Carmen's place has always been somewhat of a speed trap. It hasn't been as bad since the speed limit was raised to 65 on much of it, but they're still around, especially where the speed limit drops to 50. Watch it!

Thanks for the warning, Jonas. I think we'll probably be good the entire way up because I cannot afford a ticket anywhere but we'll be sure to watch out for that particular spot.

PA Turnpike is especially dangerous in the westward direction I travel this route often and have a 3x5 card clipped to my dashboard, noting the most dangerous milepost

I can post the list if anyone else is interested....otherwise

For those of you travelling in Virginia where radar detectors are illegal. I would SUGGEST speeding in the following spots so that you may participate in the "Revenue Enhancement of the Commonwealth of Virginia" and perhaps contribute to lowering my taxes.

Quaker Lane between Duke Street and Shirlington: Where the speed limit changes three times in two miles. To make things even more confusing the divided stretch between King Street and I-395 has two different speed limits depending on which direction one is heading? It is 25 MPH on the north bound side and 30 MPH on the south bound side.

I-66 between Centreville and Fair Oaks (RT 50) in Fairfax County. Both east and west bound.

I-66 between Manassas and Centreville at the cuts in the median barrier.

Fairfax County Parkway between Huntsman Blvd and Hooes Road.

Fairfax Station Road as it passed underneath the Fairfax County Parkway.

Clifton: on Newman Road on the Clifton side of Fairfax Station Road

I'm glad Rob got by Delaware's notorious speed traps, (oops, revenue enhancement activities ):

US 13 through the towns of Felton, Harrington, and Greenwood.

US113/Del 1 on the outskirts of Frederica and through the town of Georgetown

Most of you are unlikely to be on this road, but the "rent-a-cop" patrolling Del. 42 in the town of Cheswold cuts you no slack.

Del route 9 in the towns of Leipsic and Little Creek.

These are just the ones I've spotted. I'm sure there're more in this small state, which is only 100 miles long X 30 miles wide!

I45 going through Ennis Texas. It is the major source of income for the city. It is the location of the only speeding ticket I have ever received.

For those of you coming to SC...beware of Horry County (Myrtle Beach, Surfside, Garden City and Murrells Inlet are located in this county). I have countless friends and family that have been stopped by Horry County's finest.

Also be careful on I20 between Columbia and I95 (passes by Darlington).
