Stupid Question about TV Channels
Some months ago we got digital cable and for the life of me I cannot keep up with what's on tv. How do you guys keep up with programs you'd like to watch? I have a channel guide and I look on the computer, but with hundreds of channels I simply cannot keep up with stuff. Suggestions? (I know I'm an airhead, but please be kind)

I don't even know how to turn our TV on.
It is all so complicated...I don't know how many remote controls goblues2K has...or what each one of them is for.
Good thing I don't really want to watch TV.
I do, though, sometimes want to turn the TV off when goblues2K has it on and he is in another room! I haven't figured out how to easily turn it off, either...so sometimes I just turn the volume down if he is not in there watching. More often than not, though, it is just easier for me to go into another room so I don't have to listen to the sound.
See, I told you...I would be no help at all.
As for Comcast:
I like their online TV guide for a quick check of what's on for the evening: http://xfinitytv.comcast.net/tv-listings
Click on filter to just see movies, sports, etc. listed. Click on item listed for more details.
When it comes to rating movies: ie, 3 stars, etc. I generally use Comcast's on-TV movie guide and rarely watch anything less than a 3 star. I wish they would put the ratings online but you can't have everything.
When it comes to watching shows, as other's said, the "DVR" is the best: You can tell it to tape the entire series of shows for any one you like.... like Harry's Law, it will tape every new show every Wed night and you watch them when you want. And the best part, fast forward through every commercial.
Hope that helps.

Thanks, yall. I feel utterly stupid when it comes to trying to hone in on what I really want to watch. I do not record anything and really don't want to. I've just noticed that there are a zillion channels that may have some good stuff (DIY network, Investigation Discovery, Science channels, etc.) and I just can't figure out when programs may be on that would be of interest. Don't feel bad, Sue. I still don't know what a lot of the buttons are on our remote and have to ask +1 how to do this, that and the other. He seems to have figured it out pretty quickly, but he did ask me to call time-warner because his speed channel wasn't where it used to be. They moved it to 1512 or somesuch. I hate all this stuff and figure I'm better off to just go read a book.
Val I don't care all that much for TV. There are very few shows I want to see.
Check out the American Pickers on the History Channel, you might like them.
I do like a few shows that are on at 10:00. Sometimes I can't stay up, so I try to catch them "On Demand" On Demand also has some older Top Gear Episodes, movies, etc.

Trending Topics
Time Warner digital. They do have a listing that you can click on to see what's on, but the list goes on and on and on through a thousand or so channels. It has a little box that gives a mini rundown of the show, but I'd like to know in advance what is coming on so I can decide if its something I want to see. I was just wondering how others find the things they like to watch that are not on network tv.
Barbara and I just cruise through the guide around 7:30 and figure out what we want to watch for the evening. Also, on demand has almost all the TV shows stored for you to view whenever you want. I still miss a show from time to time, (like last night's football game) but it is not the end of the world.
